LearningFun101 offers a variety enrichment classes using hands-on exploration as a means to inspire children's interest in science, technology, engineering, mathematics and the creative arts

LEGO®  Robotics I

This class is an introduction to building and programming robots using the LEGO® Mindstorms™ Robotics Invention System.

In small teams of 3-5, students will learn:

  • The engineering process of brainstorm, design, build and test
  • How to use gears, pulleys, motors and sensors
  • Math, science and technology
  • Teamwork skills
  • Built at least two different Robots
  • Programming using ROBOLAB Software

Students use a computer to program their robot to move and react in order to solve tasks from previous FIRST LEGO League challenges.  Minimum age: 8

Round Rock Classes

Monday        LEGO Robotics        10am - 11:30am

LEGO®  Robotics II

This class is introduces intermediate topics in building and programming robots using the LEGO® Mindstorms™ Robotics Invention System.

In small teams of 3-5, students will learn:

  • The process of brainstorm, design, build, test and document
  • How to use gears, pulleys, motors and sensors
  • Math, science and technology
  • Teamwork skills
  • Built at least three different robots
  • Reading, writing, presentation skills, and creativity
  • Programming using ROBOLAB Software

Students use a computer to program their robot to move and react in order to solve tasks from previous FIRST LEGO League challenges.  This class is good practice for kids interested in robotics competitions such as FIRST LEGO League.  Minimum age: 9 

Prerequisite:  LEGO Robotics I or Instructor approval

Round Rock Classes

Monday        LEGO Robotics        12:30pm - 2:00pm

LEGO®  Robotics III

This class is introduces advanced topics in building and programming robots using the LEGO® Mindstorms™ Robotics Invention System.

In small teams of 3-5, students will learn:

  • The process of brainstorm, design, build, test and document
  • How to use gears, pulleys, motors and sensors
  • Math, science and technology
  • Teamwork skills
  • Built at least three different robots
  • Reading, writing, presentation skills, and creativity
  • Research and problem solving skills
  • Programming using ROBOLAB Software

Students use a computer to program their robot to move and react in order to solve tasks from previous FIRST LEGO League challenges.  This class is good practice for kids interested in robotics competitions such as FIRST LEGO League.  Minimum age: 10 

Prerequisite:  LEGO Robotics II or Instructor approval
